Morning : Flight/ferry from Nouméa.
Afternoon : Kuto Beach — arguably the whitest sand in the Pacific. Swimming, paddleboarding, snorkeling. View of Pic N'Ga in the background.
Evening : Sunset dinner at your hotel or gîte. Try the Bulime escargot if available — an endemic land snail, local delicacy.

💡 Practical tips
- 📍 No bank on the island : withdraw cash before arrival. Cards accepted in hotels, not all gîtes
- 🚲 No car rental : bicycles, scooters, or local taxi (~3,000 XPF per trip)
- 🌊 Tides : the Natural Pool is less impressive at low tide. Check tide schedule
- 📞 Mobile network : OPT-NC covers most of the island. 4G available at Kuto/Vao
- 🦟 Mosquito repellent : essential, especially in the evening
- 🌺 Custom : respect sacred sites. Always ask before photographing Kanak people
- 🌧️ Best season : May-October (dry, 22-28°C). Avoid Nov-Mar (cyclone risk, rough sea for ferry)
